CSCM Achievements

  • Workshop/training on “Total Cost Ownership of Suppliers” in Grand Rapids, Michigan conducted for the ISCM User Group, (the ISCM User Group is made up of SCM executives from different companies in Grand Rapids) , conducted by Kumar Palaniswami – 2002.
     
  • Completed the SCM needs assessment summary report from the survey conducted for Manufacturing Companies in Michigan - Summer of 2002.
     
  • Kumar Palaniswami was involved in a data mining project for EDS in collaboration with the Center for Applied Research & Technology at CMU – 2003.
     
  • Awarded Research Excellence Fund (2003) in recognition of the need to conduct applied research in close collaboration with Michigan businesses.
     
  • Patrick Okonkwo and Kumar Palaniswami participated in the 14th Annual North American Research and Teaching Symposium on Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Phoenix, March 2003.
     
  • Completed a project at Morbark on the mapping and analysis of the procurement cycle. Several Faculty members and two students: Satheesh Srinivasan (Graduate Student) and Kevin Keil (Undergraduate Student) were involved in the project – Summer of 2003.
     
  • Presented a paper titled “Corporate Outsourcing Trends: The Cumulative Impact on the Globalization of Supply Chains” in the 15th Annual North American Research and Teaching Symposium on Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Phoenix, March 2004. (Authors : Kumar Palaniswami, Larry Jenicke, Sanjay Mudagol - MBA student).
     
  • Completed a project “To Establish a Point-of-Use Material replenishment System” at Honeywell Aerospace Division, Boyne City. Kumar Palaniswami (Project Director) and student: Sanjay Mudagol (Graduate Student) were involved in the project – Spring 2004.
  • Initiated the CSCM Advisory Board. The first meeting was on May 21st, 2004.
     
  • Developed the Six Sigma course. This course was offered in summer session I of 2004. Faculties teaching this course are: Dave Lopez and Kumar Palaniswami.
     
  • Initiated discussions with the GIS Center at CMU for possible collaboration – Spring 2004.
     
  • Participated in the “Faculty Excellence Exhibition” in the Park Library, CMU, March 2004.
     
  • Co-sponsored the 2nd International Conference on Logistics and Supply Chain Management in India, August 2004.(Patrick Okonkwo, Kumar Palaniswami and Sanjay Mudagol – MBA student presented papers).
     
  • Participated in the “Faculty Excellence Exhibition” in the Park Library, CMU, March 2005. 

  • Conducted a training program on Purchasing, Materials Management and Lean Manufacturing on CMU Campus for the Morbark Inc. Faculties teaching this course are: Dave Lopez, David Sprague, and    Kumar Palaniswami -  May 2005 - July 2005
